Liberate Film Festival is an online event celebrating women in film. The brief was to create and design a film festival brand. There are currently more women studying and training to work in the film industry, yet most of the recognition goes to their male counterparts so I wanted to use the festival as a platform to highlight female talent and contributions in film.

With an interest and personal connection with feminism and equality for women in the film industry, the name Liberate was developed as the title for the festival.
The treatment for the brand includes wavy free flowing graphic patterns paired with a title treatment where the individual letters emulate the coming together of women but also their freedom to expand and express their talents.

Initial sketches

Logo development
Using Adobe Illustrator I produced some of the sketches into to vector logos, experimenting with typographic layouts, brush and warping.
Final logo on black and white
Pattern experimentation
I wanted the visual pairing with the logo to echo the name. So I experimented with various liquid and marble effects in Adobe Photoshop. Liquid is always changing and moving around in a freeing way so it seemed a nice visual to start pulling together the overall look and feel of the brand.
